The other day ranch 99 was selling salmon heads for 2.69 a pound and "small" WHOLE salmon for 2.49 a pound. WTF?

Can you share --- where did you get the cheap frozen split salmon heads?

I spent $23 on bait the other day ....

A korean market in Alta Loma is where I got the salmon heads. They have whole heads for .99 a pound all day every day.

We are constantly fooling ourselves into thinking that we are getting cheap lobster. With all the time and energy they are well earned...

+1 on that. Cerritos/south bay korean markets have heads for as low as 29 cent a pound I've seen.
Experiment w/ bait tho. I've never seen a magic bullet bait.
At the opener I got 4 big bugs and I didn't even use fish as bait.
50+ nets around me and no one reported more than 2 bugs.
I think hooping is mostly luck.

Thats why I skin dive for them. No gassing up the boat, no bait, no time cleaning the boat. It's a LOT easier, cheaper, and faster...
