DFG

Here is my question for anyone who might know..WHAT IS DFG'S NUMBER?

This is what I am trying to find out...im leaving for catalina at 4pm and returning at 6 am...does this count as a two day trip which i am entitled to 14 spiny lobster limit...or does it count for a 1 day trip...

thought 1 day was from 12am to 1159pm

You are only allowed to have 7 lobsters at one time:

Q. What is the daily bag limit for lobster? The possession limit?

A. According to Section 29.90(b) T14, CCR, the daily recreational bag limit is seven lobsters per person. Additionally, Section 1.17 states that no more than one daily bag limit may be taken or possessed by any one person unless otherwise authorized (see Declaration for Multi-Day Fishing Trip, Section 27.15 T14, CCR), regardless of whether they are fresh, frozen or otherwise preserved. This means that if you have a limit of seven lobsters at home, you cannot go out and get more lobsters until the first limit is disposed of in some way (eaten, given away, etc).

Edit:
Ok. I see your confusion. Several places on the DFG website state that you can only possess one daily bag limit but then there is this thing about multi-day trips.
Their headquarters number is:
(916) 445-0411

Edit2:
Either way, that's a one day trip. The regs say a multiday trip is "continuous and extends for a period of 12 hours or more on the first and last days of the trip..."

This is not true, you can get a multi-day permit from the DFG. I don't recall how it works but it has something to do with being on and off the water at a certain time, there are other rules as well but I don't remember what they are.

Call your local office and they can tell you how the permit works.
