Using a GoPro HD Camera

I also put mine on a ~4 foot piece of pvc and stuck it in a rod holder in my crate, just far enough away I can reach it to turn it on. I also used a couple of bungee/deck connections to secure it to boat. I also used some tape at the bottom and top where the pvc sits in the rod holder to make it more stable. No big landings on it yet, maybe soon. Good Luck.

I hope to try it out this Friday on the ocean. I have a 4GB card in it now, but I am thinking about moving up to a 16GB.

I also do a lot of running, so it will be neat to see how this works while running!

What size SD card do you use? I have a 4GB but I do not know how much video this can hold.

I was only using a 2GB and I would carry a spare.......I thought 2 GB was the biggest you could use (just checked manual for mine and 2 GB is maximum) The 2 GB could hold approx. 60 minutes of video

The HD can use up to 32 GB, but it sounds like I should be good with the 4 GB card.

I don't have one of these, but I would think it would be the same as cameras--it all depends upon the resolution and size of the picture you take.

Here's a chart I found showing the recording time for a 32gb SDHC card at different settings:




Average recording times (using 32GB SD card):

• 1080p (30 fps): 4h 21m
• 960p (30 fps): 5h 26m
• 720p (60 fps): 4h 21
• 720p (30 fps): 8h 09m
• WVGA (60 fps): 8h 09m

With the cost of SD cards pretty cheap now, I'd put the 4gb in a DSLR or point-n-shoot and at least double that size for your video. I recently picked up an 8gb Class 6 SDHC card from Fry's on sale for $15.00. Shop around since they're always going on sale.

I was just reading an article that stated the older ones had a maximum of 4gb, after a firmware upgrade. At 32gb, the new ones have the largest capacity of this type of video camera. Time to upgrade! http://pointofviewcameras.com/blog/p...-camera-review

Therefore, your one hour of record time for 2gb is not the same for the newer models.
