I have a MXJ & MXJ 2 speed. I choose not to use this reels while kayak fishing because I have found that their clicker tension is not very controlable (it's not strong enough to hold back a mac or horse dine from running wild while trolling). I decided on Shimano Trinidad 14's/16's (Torium model will work as well. Also Daiwa Saltist models). I went with the Trinidads because you can control the pressure on the clicker, for trolling if needed. A few notes: I bought all my Trinidad models used for around $200 (no need to pay full price). I use my Avet reels on PB and Chart boats. This is just my opinion, others have their own Thanks!
