I usually check Wetsand.com - Click on southern california, then reports to get a pretty good desciption of what to expect. Good luck - it might be a surfing day.

I have created an LJ conditions link page, with explanations for conservative "fishable" swell heights.
Big swells with long periods (>14 seconds) don't really affect the LJ Shores launch at all - as the canyon walls will refract the energy to Blacks and the Point - but, will affect all other SD beaches greatly. Big, short period swell (less than 10 seconds) can make the LJ Shores launch dicey. Your mileage may vary. http://www.larryl.com/favorite_kayak_conditions.htm

THanks
Thanks Larry!
I didn't go out. I wanted to badly, especially with rain forecasted for Friday, but it's too long of a drive from OC to get washed out at the launch. |

I updated my links for the buoy charts to be more user friendly..... the charts won't resize to your browser, and will show more detail now.
