Evening Bite yellow

I headed out for the evening shift on wed the 12th......Looks like the big guys come out to play at dusk. I hooked up with this guy about a half hour before sunset jigging iron in 140 feet. He ran me all the way to the bottom twice and better than half way down a third time. I made it back to the launch in the dark.

Damn. Congratulations. Very nice fish and not so shabby a way to start off in the forum. My question is about the technique....you were yo-yoing deep water???

Not yo yoing per say as I was not bringing the iron all the way up to the surface. I was letting the iron hitt the bottom, then ripping it up about 10 to 15 cranks as fast as I could, then letting it hit bottom again. I picked this guy up on the drop. Just after ripping it up, I put my reel in free spool, the iron dropped about ten feet and stopped. I set the hook, and I was on.

Unfortunalty I dont have a pool back there, just a built in BBQ and hot tub....I tiled off the back yard into tiers since it went almost straight uphill.
