Late Report Hali

Just catching up after a couple of days of fishing.

As you may have previously heard, these fish are Nuts.

I had a clean gaff through the head and dragged it onto the kayak. As I reached behind me for the club the fish went crazy with its teeth facing my SET, and got me a little on the hand in the scuffle.

It jumped off the kayak and into the water where I Quickly, and Luckily gaffed it again (an amateur mistake)

Never underestimate these Halibut.
I would have normally brained it with the bat while in the water, or quickly game clipped it/then brained it with the bat while boat side.

Now I'll have a chance to bite him back

Nice Fish. Those are always a rush boatside.

I just read a story out of Alaska, a dinghy was found adrift with a dead fisherman and a dead halibut inside. The fish, @125lbs, had broken his Femur and he bled out.

Of course ours aren't that big, but still strong and dangerous. Be careful with the Hali's, they die hard.

Well done,
Willy

Nice Billy!

You want to trade numbers or how about some filets ? She looked bigger in your lap and good job on that release later in the day.

I Look forward to seeing you at the next MLPA meeting, that testimony was fantastic and heart felt.
