yes, but it would suck to paddle around. Do a search here for "bait tube" works much better ~$5 to make.

Bait Basket
I tried dragging one of those baskets around and it create tons of drag. I ended up putting the fish and the basket on the kayak when I peddled, and then put it back in the water every few minutes to keep the fish alive. It was a real pain in the butt. If you're on a small budget definitely go with the bait tube.

They stay alive just until the sea lions rip the basket from the kayak. 4th on the bait tube...

Thanks for the responds. I have a hobie sport and I'm around 190. So I don't want to put a bait bucket since the weight limit is 245.

if weight and space are an issue try using a little 6pack cooler, they are easy to change the water in, light, and you can keep 2 or three macs alive all day in one (gotta change the water every hour or so)....and you just gotta fight the urge to fill it with beers!!! i have a bait tube also but that also creates too much drag for my lazy butt.....
