LJ 3/19

A big Zero for 6 hr of soaking bait which was hard to come by. I do have a question, I was getting very large smelt, are they good for anything?

Head, gill and gut then fry whole in a light dredge. Serve with fries and tartar sauce.

WSB will eat smelt! Best thing for WSB this time of year...Deadstick a White Salas 6xjr with 2 or 3 pieces of squid.

I agree with Matt on this one. live squid is the best but if you can't get live FRESH dead will do the trick.

as for semlt. they R hali candy in the right situation.

I have caught a single yellow on a smelt and it is definitely good halibut bait, especially if your fishing a bay!
