Hey Spoonz, crabs aren't the big deal around SD like they are in other places. We have some smaller brown and red rock crabs that can have decent claw meat. There are some spider and sheep crabs around that can be taisty but are not very meaty. For the most part local crabs are more of a impedament to lobster hooping than a target. If you're thinking the big dungeness crabs you'll have to head up to the bay area or so. Mike

There are some nice big rock crabs to be had in San Diego. Depending on where you are hooping they are a common by-catch. I take the big ones home and cook them. They have sweet meat that is worth the effort.

Caught these this year and last off my yak..........
