Almost 2yrs old.....

Actually 16 months or 1 1/2 years old and still taste excellent. You spend all that money on expenses trips and fishing tackle. Why would you not want the best for your fish. Chamber vacuum with 5mil bags.
Makes all the difference in the world.
Calculate the cost into your trip.
I would call ahead of time to a lodge just to find out about there fish processing. And what kind of vacuum packer they have. I have had vacuum packed Alaska halibut that sucked period. All the air in the bag has to be removed and the food saver type vacuum packers will leak air.

Looking Good! My vacuum packer died, in the market for a new one. Any suggestions?

I bought a cheap one on Amazon and no way is it the quality of a commercial chamber vacuum.
I did notice the price drop from a $1000 +
to under $500 probably a different model. I paid to have my fish processed. If you can find a guy that actually worked cutting fish and ask him what they use that would be the way to go before spending a good chunk of money.
But they are getting so expensive I might quit fishing that way. I think with all the costs of my fishing trip my fish worked out to around $25 a pound.
The food savers types are Ok if your going to eat it asap
All I know about chamber vacuum is they have an oil pump with a chamber and you put the bag of fish inside and the bag are different pre-cut.
I used to can my fish but since getting it processed I seldom do unless I catch a small amount of fish.
The prices that I have seen go from around $360 to over $1000 + i can tell you this yellow tuna makes great cat.food

This is the vacuum packer I have.

It works as good as any of the bag sucker type and the bag cutter works good fits inside, Koios
I paid around $75 hi or low new. On Amazon
Last time I used it was on farmer John smoked hams were on sale for 99c a pound and I bought 3 cut them up and froze them the last one was just as good as the first
The pinto beans 🫘 couldn't tell 😋
Also if your beans are gassy...your not changing the water enough in your soak. Don't believe in the rusty nail BS. Some cowboy 🤠 came up with maybe because he didn't have enough water to drink on the trail 🤔

Also when someone wants to give you fish 🐟......

Chances are it's old and they are replenishing with some new ...that's why I don't want any fish unless it's chamber vacuum.

I don't mind fish for breakfast....

After discovering coconut 🥥 aminos I'll never go back to soy sauce it's sweeter more sugar but less sodium and I think it tastes better I'll try to find some with no added sugar. I thinned it out with at least 1/2 with water 💧
The sambal oelek Chili paste brought it back wow.
