Lake Perris 9/18

Got on the water about 8:30. The water is crystal clear, you can see the bottom at 25 feet. Unfortunately I dropped my rod and reel into 40 feet of water. I hadn't hooked up any rod leashes and it was my left hand wind bait casting reel. Tough way to start the day. We launched at the sail cove and headed up the dam. I tried trolling a lucky craft for no love. I could see a lot of small bass but nothing big showing on the fish finder so I thought I would try to load up on blue gill. The problem was the small bass were hitting everything I put in the water. So lots of small bass today, fun on ultralight tackle but no pan fish. It was still great to be on the water and catching fish. A couple of fish in the 12" range but most about 8".

I never found the larger bass, I cruised around some looking for marks but never saw any.I'm going again next week and will go to the overflow and see if they are in that deep water there. I think I can pick up some crappie over there so with any luck I'll be bringing some fish home.

Good to see you are getting out there, Harry. Going to be a while for me. But man, when I do get to fish, the scenery will be insane.

Was going to try to get back there today but came down with a fever last night of just over 100, so this morning I'm sitting here waiting to see how I feel. The fever was only 99 when I woke up but it feels like it's coming back.
