Redondo 8/30
Water temp approx. 70* Made a few baits Spanish and chub. planned to rock fish for ling cod and cabbies. No luck, pulled some shorter RF and a Feisty Sculpin up on the jigs. headed back in, throwing the iron around the mouth of the harbor and landed a Bonito, about 13-14", maybe 3.5" "tall" from belly to back. Any one have any idea what a fish like that weighs? maybe a pound or 2? He was scrappy. Slow day for me. Too stubborn and determined to get bottom fish on the jig I suppose. Edit: Highlight of the day was seeing a small Mako finning. It was about 4' from the tip of the dorsal to the tip of the tail. I paddled up on it and tried to get a good look. Closest I got was about 4' away and he dove and/or hit the jets on me and was outta there. Hadn't seen one that close before. He was so close I could have gaffed him if I wanted too.
