La Jolla fish and bird report - 8/14/20

...what a change from two weeks ago! Today, La Jolla was steamy, still and flat. There was no surf of any consequence upon launch or landing. The lack of current, wind and swell made fishing harder than before. Anyways, I managed two decent reds doing the 45-degree retrieve yoyo jig. Also caught a Calico Bass, a Sand Bass and a Johnny Bass.

This bird was bold!
