GWS encounter in La Jolla

Buddy of mine dove the cove yesterday... I almost drove down to join him.
He had a couple of fish stringered on this float from spearing, and saw and 6-8' shark getting curious.

Confirmed it was a juvenile GWS just about the time it grabbed his fish and took off. Dragged him through the water for a bit before chewing straight through his float line.

I've long been on the fence about dragging my stringer on the back of my kayak.... this might have bumped me off of it

When I was young I used to free dive some, but you couldn't get me to do it today. Too many sealions to attrack sharks that today fisherman can't target. At the same time it doesn't make sense to chum the water while your in it. If I were diving I wouldn't attach the dead fish to the back of the kayak. Same when kayak fishing use a fish kill bag or have a kayak that can keep the dead fish inside the hull not on deck. Just my $0,.02.

I've had sea lions steal fish from the big game clip, but I'm not sure I'd take my eyes off anything that large hanging around me if I'm in the water.
