Treated myself to one of the new-ish Whiskey paddles from Aquabound. I opted for the fiberglass blade to save the $100 over CF. It is still amazingly light, and very powerful. I think there are some paddles that may be a little smoother on entry into the water, but that's a consequence of the really aggressive profile on this paddle, I think, and the trade-off is a really solid feel in the water. I suppose anything would be an improvement over my plastic Werner Baja; but it's an objectively excellent paddle.
Aquabound apparently builds them to order, which I thought might make delivery take longer, but it was only like 10 days or something.
The ferrule is really cool, too. Super minimal, corrosion resistant plastic, and works perfectly. I am not really into feathering the paddle, but it feathers in 15 degree increments if that's your thing.
If there are any other paddle kayakers out there who haven't gone pro-angler yet, I recommend this paddle with two thumbs up.
