Rincon island Saturday the 11th
Anyone wanting to meet up let me know. Surf looks to be good. Weather cloudy with possible rain? If the rain blows over or a small chance of rain. I will be there between 5:30 and 6 |

Roscoe, I think I'll be on the Owens on Sat, but if not I'll meet you out there.
I've never fished the island, what would you expect to catch there? Andy |

I went with Roscoe to the island once, kept a couple of nice white fish. That wasnt a high catch day but was a good time, and I wanted to fish that since I was a kid. I went out of the harbor on Saturday and went all the way down Silverstrand beach to the shipwreck, tested my new lithium battery for the trolling motor, was cool but got rough enough to go back to the breakwall after a while. Dont know if I will be able to make it this weekend with mothers day coming but will test the waters with her, lol.

It looks like the rain has been moved to Friday only for now. If I catch a break, I'd be there. I'll keep an eye on the surf/swell reports.
I've only launched from CI harbor at the Hobie/Kiddie Beach, but Im down for anything. I've been looking for local folks lately. I finally hit the water, I just need a little help here and there. |

The weather was great no wind or surf. Easy launch and land.
The islands kelp was pretty much gone. A few areas with kelp up close to the rocks. Lots of cormorants on the rocks and in the water. Had one try steal my bait. It had the damn mackerel in its mouth all the way up to the kayak. I gave up on the island after an hour or so and went over to a couple of kelp stringers. Managed to catch 1 kelp bass and 1 sandbass. Then nothing for another hour. So I packed it in. Gonna try Channel Islands harbor this up coming weekend. |
