Thule Hullavator - Lift Assist roof Rack - $425
Rack is in used condition and shows wear but is 100% functional. Great for loading kayaks on the rooftop without straining your back. Lifts 40lbs of the kayaks weight which makes any kayak a breeze to load. Brand New is 650$ . Selling for 425$ cash Located in Reseda, CA but can be picked up in Torrance. https://www.thule.com/en-us/us/sport...-pro-_-1685448

They widened the 2019 Outback and it just barely doesn't fit.

So I take it a PA14 would be too wide?

Given that the width of the rack on the website is listed at 36" and the width of the PA14 on the hobie website is 38", I think that would be a safe bet.

I'm debating buying a used hullavator for my outback. And, re the PA.. the issue is also the weight. The hullavator is rated for no more than 75lbs, which is probably not that important once the kayak is up top, but I'm worried about the weight of the kayak on the arms when they are deployed down alongside the car. The '19OB is about 11-25lbs too much, but I've seen pics of people using it successfully. I haven't seen a PA on the hullavator. |

I'd love to know more about the mod and how to do it.

Are you able to space the distance between the racks so that it cradles the narrower part of the hull?

If I'm getting what you are saying, I don't think so. The cradles are angle upward and you cant change the angle on them. I'm going to look at them tonight to see if I can modify.

Ahh That makes more sense! Great Idea but it does not work on my car. On my 4runner the bars are I have are mounted to the door sills so they can only go as far apart as the doors go which is not far enough apart for the narrower parts of the kayak.
