40/50lbs braid w/25-40lbs leader (all depending on conditions/target/location/ect.)
I find that 40 or 50lbs braid is very manageable line, yet strong enough to fight most SoCal fish. Also, with that weight of backing line, you can tip with a leader of choice in just about any weight/material that is appropriate. This helps build a very versatile rig that should be able to cover everything but larger tuna |
