X-Factor Rear Hatch Bait Tank

Does anyone have experience with the X-factor rear hatch bait tank?
Does water go in the yak when surf launching(taking on waves)?

I've been using the 5 gallon buckets but wanted to use that space for a crate that is reachable.

Thank you!

If your seals are nice and new and once the weight of the water presses down, it creates a pretty nice snug fit. I also use bungee's that connect to the sides to hold it in even further. A couple of things that I don't like about it:

Hatch lid for the top does not fit well (a little trimming might help that)
Square shape even though the corners are slightly rounded seems to get 'dines crowded in the corners giving them red-nose a bit more vs. round bucket.

Might have one for sale soon if you are interested.

dennyh,

So is the tank detachable after the weather stripping?
How do you like it?

I have this tank and for the most part like it. I use a bungie system to firm it down but like someone already said, the wieght of the water helps keep it firmly down.

What I dont like about it is:

1. If you roll your yak coming in, you will take on a lot of water. Not cool.
2. It was a pain on the islander trip I took a couple of months ago. When loading and unloading the kayak it seemed that there was never a good place to put it. Just my opinions.

I used this tank as both a bait tank and as a storage tank. I found that if you use metal turnbuckles ( try home depot, or marshalls hardware if your in San Diego) it creates a pretty dry seal. I actually really liked my x factor and this bait tank!

I had an x-factor with the same tank and I really liked it. I used a through the scupper hole pump and tied the tank down with zip locks. The tank also worked great as an ice chest when not fishing with live bait.

In the X-Factor I prefer to use the live bait tank over the bucket, it really does work well as an ice chest wen not being used as a live well.

Its great storage for the smaller fish that we target, Bream Whiting, Herring, awesome way to keep my JD cold it fits flush, it is very neat, catches no wind like the bucket does and leaves me plenty of room in the tankwell for the catch
