Those vertical lines is what's happening or is that just from the camera? If its those vertical lines I would call Lowrance warranty and send this one in. Their warranty is supposed to be pretty good and they'll send you a new one.

The Hook series is notoriously inconsistent. Bummer from an other-than-that pretty stellar company.
Contact Lowrance and I'm sure they will take care of you. |

When its showing like that, the fish finder is not getting feedback from the transducer. This can be for number of reasons.
1.) The transducer is picking something up before the sonar signal hits the water. 2.) The transducer is not connected properly. 3.) The unit is faulty. So I have a similar issue sometimes, my culprit is that I get sand in the Lowrance ready slot on the beach launch and as the water shifts the sand in the slot. This causes me to go in-between having and not having a reading. I found that my remedy for that is to stick the mirage drive in backwards and get the kayak going backwards to push the sand out. Then I get good signal. I would take the cover off the Lowrance ready slot, check the orientation of the transducer and make sure its facing straight down and isn't crooked. Check for sand while your at it. Recheck your connections, make sure the twist lock in the back of the connector is twisted all the way.

Is your depth set to auto? Turn that off for now and set it for something reasonable like 100ft. Your screen will always look like that if your range is <5ft.
