Giving the Yellowfin a rest ....
here is a late report from Saturday morning. Launched Saturday morning from LJ at 6 am, and 29 mins later caught a 20 lb. yellowtail on the 3oz (B-52) bucktail with a twist trailer near the bottom, around 115'. On the beach by 9:30 for some boogie boarding with the little ones. Pretty non-traditional choice of breakfast by this yellow, but I'd rather dead-stick my favorite bait than a 6X Jr., they slow troll very well at any depth, hang up less and don't tangle themselves. It worked anyway. Beautiful morning, you know, we live in PARADISE Kind of a bloody mess, but the she went immediately onto ice and the sashimi was XLNT!! Ready to go boogie boarding ... they can't wait for daddy to start catching "lomsters" again.

Nice Yellar and great shot with the girls... My wife said when our daughter turned 1 yr I could take her on the yak. hmmmm.... 14 months now. Maybe I will take a lesson here and spend a day at the beach after an early morning excursion! Sounds like a perfect day!!

Even though I always have a couple with me, I have yet to break out the bucktail. Good going!

Chuck - posted a shot of me on the kayak the other day, first time out
with my 2 year old off Big Rock on a flat day. She loved it out there, water was gin-clear and she was mumbling baby talk about Sea World fish and wanted to find Shamu of course. Note she's carbing-up on crackers above for a long day at the beach. My 4 year old on the other hand is very cautious with any "adventure" esp the ocean, won't even get near the wet sand - but very smart in a school kinda way though. One day she will decide to like it -- Hope yours is crazy and rambunctious like my lil one. Afran - water shot was well done by Don (Habanero), I liked the gaff shot resulting in a blood geyser! Rusty - I hear you were giten'em with Jared. Nice. Yep that is a Bluetooth, this was my first trip using it and I got a yellow, maybe it attracts em. Look at Arne's track record wearing those things ..... wow it is VERY practical and conventient to make/answer calls with voice comand mode while the phone is safe in the drybag. Makes it easier to call the wife to bring the big cooler! I have Lets Talk Hookup 1090 7 - 9 am or JACKFM blaring in the other ear. |

Yeah, the blue tooth isn't a bad idea. I usually try not to talk on the phone while fishing, but always end up doing it anyway. I might give it a try and see if it really attracts yellows.
Dang, shoulda fished with Jared yesterday too. He's on fire right now. |

Sometimes I wish my lil' one had a little caution in her, like your older one, but alas... she goes off the bed head first, heights have no affect on her, getting blasted in the head with a wave at the beach has absolutely no effect on her, she just gets up and does it again, and she thinks everything is for her adventure! Scarry! She consistantly walks around with a black and blue something or another. She doesn't seem to mind though. She's 97th percentile for height so I guess she will be the total Tom Boy. We'll just hope to keep child protective services away from her until she's older!
