Thanks, it sure makes me rethink my habit of going fishing by myself all of the time. I don't do it as much as I did when I was younger but I still do occasionally. Does he look like one of the BWE guys?

Wow that's nuts. I know I don't have the equipment that he had. Outside if my VHF and PFD. He had a dry suit and a rescue beacon, that's prepared, outside of fishing alone of course

I had the same thoughts. I'm thinking hypothermia is the greatest danger. Also makes me think of leashing myself to my yak if I'm out alone.

Personally that sounds more dangerous than safe.

I carry the inReach beacon for all my sports...kayakfishing, boating, rock climbing, mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, off roading, dirt biking, etc...It will also text message.
At the time it was much better than the SPOT. I have had it 3-4 years now.
