Hi Dave,

I got out earlier, launching around 7. The bait I got at the receiver was lively but large 5-8" sardines. I hooked up to a barely legal calico on a rapala on the way out that I released and then spent the rest of the day catching mackerel and short bass.

I went a couple weeks ago and the boat launch was closed. Know anything about that?

So the next best thing.... is to park at the doheny surf parking lot. It's metered but they accept credit cards. $1 per hour. I wheel my kayak down the sand (across that crappy water). For a quick session $5 is less than $10, and still pretty close to the receiver.

No, but they did install an electronic ticket machine, no more having to have the exact $10, just use a card. Perhaps they had it closed for that change over.

Yeah, that day I didn't bring my dry suit and I usually go all day.
