Marco Island, Florida

Hey all.
Just returned from a trip to Southwest Florida to visit the folks and thought you might be interested in a report from a different part of the country. Rented a Trident 11 for a week. The inshore fishery is amazing in case any of you ever get out that way. Miles and miles of pristine mangroves. Caught speckled trout, jacks, ladyfish, snapper all on a variety of plastics, topwater, spinnerbait, and shallow plugs. Lost a lot of lures to big snook running me into the mangroves with the drag buttoned down.
Fish busting up big schools of bait everywhere. Hooked a 5 ft Blacktip shark on a little spinnerbait that cleared the water by 3 ft and bit me off. Super exciting. Manatees, dolphins, and birds galore. Mostly all by myself. No kayaks or other boats. Here's a few pics.
Cheers, Steve

The last fish pictured has fangs like a Corvina.

Awesome report! I lived in West palm Beach for 2 years and just returned last week from visiting family there. The inshore fishery is incredible! Fished Juno beach last week with a borrowed freshwater spinning rod and landed a 25lb snook from the beach. Cant wait to get back

That's a big Snook.
Hooked a few big ones but was just outgunned.
Straight in the mangroves.
Fun to sight cast for them on the beach in 3 ft of water.
Love fishing topwater for them

I got the second-hand report from Reiner and it sounded like you were having a great time!
