Campo Las Encantadas 12/26/2015 part two.

Part two:

30-We even had Xmas tree with lights.
Because we are in Baja camping, does not mean we cannot have seasonal decorations.

Monday, 12/28
31-Eventough we had good weather and surf, we decided to go back to Gonzaga Bay, but this time with our kayaks.

32-Frank had a little battery operated compressor that worked great for re-inflating Michael’s tires before we hit the pavement.

33-My first try at fishing in the new kayak has been in Gonzaga Bay. I saw fish jumping, but they did not respond to my small lure.

After this picture, the battery in my camera was depleted. The backup battery was in the camp.
Thus, no more pictures of the Bay. That was the last time I went to the Bay.

34-Another temp reading. 6:00 PM, 54 degrees.

Tuesday, 12/29
35-The diving crew getting ready to go home.

36-Buddha did the cooking the second night and some lunches.

On one occasion he mixed a lot of ingredients that we had and made a meal.
37-What a meal. Hot and spicy.

38-Time/temp. 12/29...8:42 PM, 39 degrees.

Most evenings after the meal at the restaurant, we had a campfire going.

39-Huddling around a campfire to keep warm and swap jokes and discuss many topics.

40-We even had S’mores made on open fire.

Wednesday, 12/30.
41-Time and temp. 7:21 AM, 42 degrees.

42-Bob’s truck is always ready to rescue whoever is stuck in the sand.

43-Besides me, others were stuck too.

Those who have been there before will notice the new pillars at the future patio.

44-surf shot.

45-Sunset shots.

46-Temp reading.12/30…9:31 AM, 55 degrees.

Thursday, 12/31.
47-No, I aint going in the water.

48-Bob on his throne enjoying a warm sun. That is what we did most of the time. Rob taking a well deserved break.

49-What do you do if you can’t get a ladder? You use what is there.

For the New Year’s Eve dinner we went to the restaurant to bring in the New Year with others.

50-There were family and other visitors at the dinner table.

51-Our two hosts. Bob and Louise who owns the restaurant and many properties there.

52-Buddha was entertaining the crowd with a great karaoke machine. Crowd’s favorite was him signing in Spanish!!

53-There was a festive atmosphere with special lighting at the restaurant for the New Year’s party.

We sang and danced and had some adult bevrages.

54-The lady in the wheel chair is the head of the family who owns the properties and the restaurant at Las Encantadas.

Her daughter-in-law (with 2016 glasses) who cooked delicious meals for us during our stay is next to her.

Friday, 1/1/2016..Happy New Year
Next day we woke up to this kind of surf.

55-These conditions may be do able for the kayakers that go out of La Jolla, but I was not about to chance it.

I was not keeping any fish, so taking a dip in cold water with no hot shower for a possibility of some catch and release was not too appealing.

56-Buddha preparing ingredients to make one of several meals he cooked for us.

57-I got this travel backgammon set on Ebay for the last trip to Baja. Just in case we could not fish. It sure came in handy to keep us occupied for a
while on this trip. Buddha was the winner most of the time.

58-I went for some surf fishing as it got calmer, but it was too late in the afternoon to set up the kayak for fishing.

59-Little too much for me.

Saturday, 1/2/2016.
60-All packed up to go home at 7:20 AM. 97% of packing and loading was done the day before.

There was a piece of wood that was blocking the left front wheel. For a moment, I thought I was stuck again. I just backed up and went around it.

This time it was only two cars, since Frank and Michael had left days earlier.

61-Of course this was the condition when we left for home.

With great weather, we were able to drive in good time. The wait at the border was only (2) hrs. even though it was on a weekend. No problem at the inspection points be it by Mexican soldiers or the US custom officer.
We stopped at the Arco in Calexico to say Adious, and I left. On the way home I had a five hrs. rest stop, at the Pechanga, and then with good traffic got home safe.

It was an adventure for sure. It would have been better, if I had a four-wheel drive and brought an air compressor. That way I could have gone to Gonzaga Bay more often.

Thanks to everyone who provided for delicious meals or cooked them.
It was nice to meet new anglers, and of course thanks to Bob for inviting us.

The End.

Side note:
Rob was working very hard to finish the outside of the other structure.

Thanks for the pics Hashem. It was a pleasure to finally meet you and hear all the different stories about your culture and taste the good food. The soup+deserts were Bomb!.
Thanks for also helping me put up the window, as well as offering numerous times to help out. I only declined because you were on vacation (not there for hard labor), however the suggestion was much appreciated.

Hashem, nice photo work and narrative. The fishing was poor because of the weather but the good times still rolled. Thank you.

Hashem,

Thank you for everything: the tree decorations, the turkish candies, marshmellows, hershey candies, coffee, cup of noodles, etc.

It is always entertaining when you come on a trip.

You made it fun even though we couldn't get out and go fishing.

Hope to see you again on another trip.

The two best pictures were the one of Rob's and my place showing the front picture window. And the Rooster fish and Dorado hung in the house. Still lot's of work to do, but I see the place coming along at a good pace. Tight Lines and Fishy Dreams.

Thanks Sven! It has been a long process for sure and still quite a ways to go. Since it's not fully enclosed I actually had to sleep w my sunglasses on for 2 nights in a row due to the wind storm. Sand all in my eyes n ears. It was quite the motivation to work hard while I was there. My problem is I can never go for more than a day or 2 because of work.

Anyhow I can't wait to see you down there. I want to fish w you again!

What a great write up. Like the way the place is coming along. The steps look great. Sure looks like it was cold with the shots of the temp gage. Thanks for taking the time to share.
