WHAT A HOG! Im totally jealous! Im still hunting for my trophy but I can't stop catching 14"ers. Only question I have is what depth were you fishing in? You can be as broad as shallow or deep GREAT FISH!

Beast!!!!!

WTG on the beast Sheephead. #20+ is a huge goat. Curious how it fought, as I haven't come close to that size yet. I do remember a guy posting a few years back after he caught a YT and monster goat in the same day. As I recall, the 20 ish pound YT weighted a little less than the goat. Crazy. Nice work and congrats on the trophy fish.

anymore details? What rig? What bait? What beer? How did the kelp look?haven't been out in forever. Can you still tie up to it or has the top died off?

SOME answers...

Didn't get hailed on, just rained on. That wasn't bad since I had "splash' gear on. The bad part is that the wind was blowing from ESE, then S, making some crappy, close-interval chop.

Depth was about 35' over some former kelp patches, now mostly just a rock bottom.

Initially fought like a leopard shark with a long run, then settled into some quasi-headshakes and made me think I had a good-sized hali.
