Lake Okeechobee?

I am going out to Florida early November to a wedding and it happens to be close to Lake Okeechobee. I have a 6-8 hour window and will be renting a boat out of Clewiston. Has anybody ever fished that lake??? If anyone has any info on how to get into some LMB's I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Matt

Yes, fished it and lots of its tributaries when I was a kid. Loaded with bass and bluegill as big as a dinner plate! Also caught wild Oscars- escapees from tropical fish farms when they got flooded and overflowed! Tons of fun- don't miss it if you're already there!

I was told that November is the best time of year for Large mouth bass there, and that live shinners are the best bait for big bass. I have never been there, but an tempted to make the drive. Let us know how you do.

I lived in Georgia for a little over a year and made my way down there. WFO LMB the two times I went, once in October and the other around February or something. Back then (99'-00') I know I was running 8-15# straight mono rigs, lots of top water crank baits, pig and jigs and leadhead/grub combos.

You really should do yourself some justice though and fly fish the canals for some peacock bass and the marinas for snook. We already have good LMB fishing here. Just say'n
