C'bad 10-2

Quick report to help you weekend warriors. Very dead afternoon at the kelp. Fished from 2-Sunset. Those lobster boats have already cut the kelp to shit so it's almost non-existent besides a few submerged stringers.

Bait was also non-existent, tried for an hour or more and called it quits. Busted out the surface iron and must have made over 1,000 casts and didn't get bumped, even on my magic jig haha. Worked my way onto the reef and worked a spoon jig yoyo style for a few calico's to get the skunk off.

Overall very dead, but was still nice to get on the water before this weekends weather hits.

On a side note, is it just me or does the inshore bite seem to have died down a bit? Those yellows seem to be MIA as of these last few weeks, I'm just going to blame it on the moon. I haven't even found a bonito or barracuda willing to bite these past week or so.

I have been thinking the same and had a thought about that...the warm water came in very early, and in theory doubled or longer the length of the season run...I think the fish has thinned out some. The run happened. There could be more runs on the way...just my thoughts. I would like to know what TaggerMike thinks...he's a marine bio stud.

Considering there are reports of YT all the way up in Washington, I think we will get another run as they pass back down. Just a guess though haha.

Hey Surfisher - nice report...where did you launch from? I stopped by yesterday (10/1) around 1PM...looked at the south jetty next to the lagoon, warm water jetties and ended up at Ponto. I didn't have the nads to launch at the previous three sites, so ended up fishing Ponto channel from shore for 2 spotties and a short 'but. Maybe because I'm older now, but launching the yak in surf is more intimidating than learning to surf big waves as a kid LOL.

Thanks for the report Bryan....sounds like ya got a good casting workout. I'm all for that theory of another run on the heading back south trip...Works for me. Out of town this weekend but hoping to get out next Tues or Wednesday.
