I don't remember where the post is but Bob asked every one to take care of these things before hand to minimize travel time.

YES you can get it just after you cross the border on the left side of the street. Very limited parking 2-10 minutes to fill out and pay or get free one. With one or two trucks not a problem, with 5-6 trucks no parking. So if you stop you need to know how to find my place. We travel at a safe speed but you will have to catch up with the rest of us. I posted driving instructions on how to get to our place on the other sticky a few days ago.
YES they must be stamped.

I am so confused......
The last two times that I traveled to Baja, we stopped at the border. They checked my passport and I filled a card and paid $25.00 (I think). We stayed one week in Baja. I understood that it was a visa and good for 180 days. The first time I went, it was with someone who had been there (26) times before our trip. He did not say that on return, we have to send the visa to the Mexican immigration office. The second time was to fly to Cedros Island. Same again, the driver took us to an office at the border and I/we paid $25.00 and got the same visa. This time it was eight days. On the way back an attorney who was with us collected our visas and said that we have to mail them in and he will do it for us. So, I take it that visa is same as FMM? How it is that it is free in one place and not at another. I do have a valid passport, and I don't want to cause any delays. Please advise as what to do right now or should I wait until we get to the border. Thanks. P.S. I just read the information here: http://www.discoverbaja.com/go/fmm-tourist-permits/ It says for 7 days or less no charge. We will be there eight days. For us it is $28.00 plus $6.25 for postage. I don’t feel comfortable to send my CC and passport information on line. Too many eyes. Not too familiar with scan function either. Also, there is small chance that the FMM not arrive on time. Is it a big delay if we stop at the border? It was not when I did it before. Especially if we are there so early in the morning. Last edited by Mahigeer; 09-24-2015 at 05:10 PM. |

That is what I am trying to do. I live in Ventura County so it is not a trip around the corner to get to the border. If there is a place it can be done online, by mail or phone that someone knows about it would be appreciated. Have passport, & fishing License taken care of. Vehicle insurance will be done tomorrow.

OR maybe you could drive to San Diego a day early and get it and have it stamped in TJ. Get it for 6 months have it stamped and you are done. We all meet up early the following morning at Johnny's shell station in El Cajon. That way we have less trouble going through Mexicali. OR we could cross at TJ much easier to get FMM there because no traffic problem, lots of parking. Then travel from TJ through Tecate to San Filipe, a few miles longer this way and maybe an hour longer traveling Mexico roads in the dark which I prefer not to do. Please print out a copy of driving directions on other sticky. So as I see it those are the choices, maybe someone else has other ideas. I travel the route on the 8 to Mexicali bacause the driving before daylight is done in the USA we cross border at daylight so as not to drive MEXICO in the dark.

There might be ONE other possibility. Sven could lead those with FMMs through to my place while those needing FMMs would stop with me and get them, that would work if there were only two other trucks with people needing FMMS more than that it will still be rough crossing traffic.

The best bet i to pull to the left after you pass the inspection and get the FMM. It won't be crowded at that time in the morning. |

Monstahfish and I are joining discover baja and will get a prepaid FMM. We still have to stop and get it stamped. I imagine it won't take long.

We will get it figured out. I know if you do not have the FMM they can send you back to the border to get it, but if you have it and it is not stamped, they will have their money and probably not really care? Don't know. And it will be early and traffic might not be a factor. We will make it happen.

Sold out??? I hope there are not out of forms when we get there.
On a positive note: Yesterday, I went to Sunset OEX and got a really nice kayak seat. http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/...ic-angler-seat Andy rang the sale and it was good to see him again. I wanted to spend more time at the shop, but my wife was waiting in the car, so I have to go back soon. Step by step, I am getting ready for the trip. Next step is to install bunch of accessories, like rod holders, anchor trolley, compass, etc. on the kayak. I will have a picture of the other seat if anybody interested in purchasing. Especially the crew who is going on this trip. Last edited by Mahigeer; 09-27-2015 at 07:35 AM. |
