finally success

Went out on Wednesdays for the 7th trip to LJ this year. Looking for my 1st yellowtail from a kayak. No mackeral to be found. Everyone was complaining about it. Saw this guy with a Jackson kayak and a hat like Jim Sammons. When I heard him speak to his buddy I recognized his voice from his TV show. Told him I was a big fan of the show. Anyway, no macks around for anyone until I saw in the distance a boil. Threw into it and bam, 5 greenbacks in 1 cast. So off I went. Wanted to go deeper and ended up straight off the condos in 160 ft of water when my Mac got nervous. Felt something solid but no run and then…...................big run game on. Waited 5 to 10 secs put it in gear and just let the circle hook do it's thing. I forgot how strong big yellowtail can be and he worked me pretty good for 10 mins or so. Finally started gaining on him. Another 5 mins and was able to sink the gaff in him and pull him up on my lap. Boy, what a feeling. Thought about another but decided to take it and run. Back on shore by 10:00am, home by 11:00am and fish cleaned and gear rinsed off by noon. The rest of my day was very sweet. Pics to follow later.

Go get um

Congrats on your first yellow. It will be an unforgettable memory and a super tasting meal. I'm sure there will be many to follow, especially this summer. Tight Lines!
