Halibut fishing tips

Im going to try my Mini this coming weekened in the bays, what are the preferred plastics, and live bait and the setups used to catch com Butt's?

Preferred setup is using a halibut rig with a trap hook. Works both with and without. Use nice fresh live sardines.

Also plastic like fishtraps or gulps work awesome. Have to keep the bait constantly moving, either by slow trolling, drifting or cast and retrieve.

I prefer fishing the edge of sandy areas with spawning areas such as eel grass beds or kelps as that's where i think halibuts lie in wait for a tasty snack, lol.

Sounds good, ill try a little of everything, im going to try and make smelt, i've heard those work well also.
