Opinions on HDS 5 & 7 Gen 2

I was forced to sell my PA 12 over the summer due to financial hardships, but am back in the game and picked up a used PA 12 from Craigslist last week. The kayak came with an Elite 4x hdi, but I'm hoping to upgrade to a HDS in the near future. I know I will be happy with a HDS 5 or 7, but I'm looking for opinions from current owners. Is it worth the extra $200 to get the bigger screen? All help is appreciated!

HDS 5 is good for me on PA14. But I have it mounted on gunwale. I can see how it might be helpful to have the bigger screen if forward mounted.

I have an HDS 5 and wish I had spent a couple hundred more to get the 7.

WM will have the 5 on sale for 350 this month if you wait a little.

Saw another great deal on BPS for the elite 7 HDI for 450 or the elite 4 HDI for only 199!! Great units and much better than the older elite and DSI units they replaced.

Get the 7". My first FF was a five, second was a five, third is now a 7". What a difference. Split screen with the 7" still has great resolution, while with the five it gets pretty tight in there.

Where you plan on mounting it makes all the difference.. a 7 by your feet is not any better than a 5 by your knees.

Looks like the decision will be easy! Gonna spend the extra money and get a 7. Appreciate all the feedback!
