Whales playing Nintendo frogged at La Jolla

Today was short and sweet, unload and ready to roll at 5:45am, still to dark to paddle so I chilled for a bit. The Hobie flotilla was in full effect unloading, am starting to consider the savings account and if i can swing it....
Anyway, launched and got a couple over the bow, was wrapped up nice and watertight so no worries. I paddle about 300 yards off shore and it's still pitch black darkness. I stall for about 15 mins or so, it was kinda weird and my first time paddling in the pre dawn. So I chilled in 40' of water, being a pussy did not want to hightail it to the deeper part of the canyon in the dark
So long story short no fish but the whale action was nuts, I literally felt like a icon in that video game frogger. They were everywhere.
Back on the beach at 10:45....I know the hobie guys went for the horizon

That was a fun launch in the dark......that might have been you to the north of us. (Two PA's unloading). I took a good 3'+ to the face.....if I wasn't wrapped up tight...that would have been a wet ride. I only got pulled backward a few feet...but that was enough to make me think I should have waited five more seconds.
