Avet MXJ is my go to. Sure the Avets are not the most kayak friendly reel out there but once a year you send it to Santa Clarita for service and your good to go. Keep your money in SO Cal.

SX or MXJ is all you need for an Avet on a kayak and great all around reel... Heck it's been great on anything from rockfish to 45 pound bluefins...

Company located in Chatsworth not Santa Clarita and great guys that will service your reels while you wait.
