Like was mentioned, you don't want the bait to get into the drain tube, or plug it somehow. As long as you can keep your tank circulating well your baits will stay a live. I usually let the tank train into the tank well rather than add a drain tube. The problems I see with drain tubes is they get clogged, they snag on fishing line, and so I just use drain holes in the tanks.

Your bolts are sticking out into the tank.


That's no Bueno!


You should make it as flush to the inside of the tank as you can.

When I had this style tank, I put one of those thin folding cutting board inside to cover the bolt heads. This would also round out the corners so none of the fish would get trapped in the corners. Cheap and easy fix.
