Elite 7 HDI settings

I just mounted my new elite 7 HDI to my kayak and plan to go out thursday and test it out.

Are there any settings I should change out of the box for La Jolla?

Thanks!

I've got the 5 inch variety. I had to watch a few videos on Youtube and read for a couple days to get it dialed in the way I like it. There's not just a "set it at home and it'l work perfectly OTW" button. (sadly...) I highly recommend reading various articles until your eyes fall out, don't just take my advice and call it a day. It's only worth $.02 anyway.

Anyway, take the darn thing and learn how to use the gain and adjust your color lines and all that. Then spend the first 30 minutes OTW just screwing with the settings and get yourself dialed in for that first use. Get used to the unit.

My big tip- Set the depth manually. Turn the gain all the way up to 100, and dial it down until you get rid of most of the extra stuff/feedback you don't need, but not so much that you might miss something that looks "suspicious". Adjust the color to your liking so you'll understand what is happening beneath you. That's the spark notes version of what I'd do.
