I belive what they are referring to is a hatch like sea kayaks have been using for the last 20 years. It's a neoprene cover with a hard plastic cover over it. For a bow hatch designed to punch through waves it's the best type of seal/cover/lid out there. Not sure if this is what they are using but hope it is.
I know I can't wait to get mine.
