No Hard days.

snapper opener was Saturday and it was rough. called for 4ft swells and those that went said it was worse... I didn't go.

weather report seemed to indicate a break in the weather for sunday. Winds die down around midnight and the swell go non exsistant until about 10am when the winds were to pick up to around 11mph and 18mph at noon, but good news, its blowing north. so with a nice break and free push from the wind to get back we launched at 0545 and headed to a wreck about 5 miles out.

a 2 hour troll produced one king (bait) and a chicken Mahi. more like a chick though. we got to the spot and there were a couple boats already in place but it seemed the whole fleet was about a mile and half south of us... which was just fine since we knew there were fish here!

the first 10 drops combined all resulted in break offs! 40lb floro cut like butter! 60lb mono cut in miliseconds! it was just a tap tap... thump pull broke... my buddy nathan switched to 100lb leader and i rigged up a 90lb wire leader and it was on! we limited out on red snapper pretty quick (2 each over 16") and let plenty go while trying to take the big ones.

around 11:30 it was still calm, but HOT! stagnent and hot on the water just isn't comfortable. luckily the wind finally came right at noon and we decided it was time to go. with the building swell and increasing winds we did a pretty fast troll in, making it about an hour and 20 mins and i picked up a nice king. it went 33" and saving it for shark bait next weekend.

Nathan is combining the footage from this week and last week into one video and sending me pics later.

but for now, here's our limit! mine are still on ice and atleast one will be served up sashimi style.

Video! its mostly nathan since he has the gopro (mine got jacked while on the beach) but he got me in it a couple times.

Can you see the shore line in the back ground on the right? lol

it taste like sh!t compared to the snapper, cobia, pompano etc. shoot, the black tip tastes better. I'm not a mackerel fan by any means. mackerels a mackerels a mackerel. cut it, troll it, drop it, stuff it in a hoop net.
