Modifying Ram Rod holder?

Picked up one of these (ram rod revelation) last week and finally installed it on the PA this past weekend. The rods I typically fish with have a longer handle then the rod holder and the reel doesn’t sit in the cubby area as it should. The rod looks like it can easily slip out. So I’m thinking about cutting the bottom out so the rod can shit lower. Does anyone see any issue in doing this? fficeffice" />>>

plenty of rocket launchers on skiffs with no bottom to the tube, should work no problemo.
