Speed of a kayak translates to how much energy it takes you to paddle to where you want to fish. Or if you paddle with a group or fish with friends then you end up paddling alone as everyone else is already out fishing. Faster boats mean less time paddling and more time fishing.

On that note, the fastest kayak is one that you don't tip over or fall off of.

Faster kayak = less energy expended getting to where you need to go. I fish with guys who have all the different Hobies. A Revo takes 1 1/2 kicks to keep pace with one kick of my adventure and a PA 12 takes 2 kicks. That adds up at the end of the day.
