I pulled a red up that was stuffed, it had a whole squid in its mouth and some left overs in it tummy. Squid is great for bait for to much of it can have a negative affect on fishing.

Yup. Gulp accounted for about half my fish before I switched to a whole squid dropper loop and a mega bait dine for the weight on the bottom. It also caught 2 fish or so. Mixing it up but damn, it sucks losing some nice lures for a few little fillets on the slow days. A lot easier to lose hooks and sinkers.
