Marina Del Rey

Went to Marina Del Rey yesterday (not for fishing), looks like a good place for kayak fishing, since NPH has been over-fished (I think..)

Anyone fishing there recently? i know all harbors are the same, structure for bass, sand bottom for hali.....but just want to get a recently update about kayak fishing in that harbor.

I just don't see much people kayak fishing there, and couldn't find much info online.....but they do have halibut derby each year, so... should be a good place for hali?

Any info from you guys will be appreciated!

The halibut derby is for the whole Santa Monica Bay, most guys in the tourney aren't fishing the harbor.

With that said, I have never fished the harbor from a yak. As a kid, I spent lots of time fishing the docks and from a dinghy there. Lots of sharks and rays all over. Good halis in certain areas, bass and rockfish on the structure, and even some juvi wsb. Cuda in the summer too.

Keep an eye out for the yachters with more money than brains/courtesy.
