Any Barracuda showing up in LJ?

I have fished LJ a few times this month and haven't seen any. They are usually all over the place this time of your. Super fun to catch on light tackle.

Anybody catching any?

Thanks.

I don't know about La Jolla, but I caught a whole bunch of slime sticks off a party boat up in Redondo Beach last weekend.

All were solid keepers on a 7' Medium Rod. Super fun!

They were just outside the kelp and SUPER deep, but they would hit anything shiny. I was dropping a shiny lead-head straight down to the bottom and reel it straight up, pretty fast. They would inevitably hit it on my retrieve.

It was about as close to CATCHING (as opposed to fishing) as I've ever seen it.

I caught a bunch of shorts while trying to make bait the last three times (last three weekends) I went to La Jolla, they are absolute suckers for Krockodile spoons in the chrome & blue mac pattern

The North edge of the kelp is where I kept getting them on a No. 4 Krock. I was using 12lb test with my Shimano Caenan baitcaster on a 7'0" Ugly Stick Intercoastal rod.

I got a couple that were close to legal but I never take any slime sticks home. You are right; they are lotts of fun on the light stuff.

Even the huge greenback macs like the krockodile spoons too

theres big schools of spaniards just outside the kelp on the north east end (by the point) and the cuda are under them. its ridiculous when you find them. throw a croc thier way or a small surface iron in white and brown.
