north county

I'm heading to Aneheim on Tuesday to meet an old fishing buddy and am bringing my kayaks to fish the new moreaubaits they're coming out with. Have no idea where to fish or even launch from around there. I know its a little drive to the coast but any suggestions on fishing spots and launch sites. Looking to fish the kelp without too far of a paddle, any help is much appreciated

Take what I say with a grain of salt, as I'm still a noob and waiting to get my yak, but I'm familiar with the area.

Long Beach, Huntington Beach and Seal Beach aren't too far from there. Newport is a little more south.

Other than that, someone else will have to chime in! Have fun.

you can take the 55 over to newport and launch at the coastguard beach and fish the barge or back in the bay or head right outside and find some kelp pretty close from what i understand. havent fished it myself....

that or you could go to seal beach and see if andy can give you any tips on fishing that area and launch by OEX probably.

since the fishing has been slow there any other places we should try. I dont mind just fishing the bay but would like to hit the kelp to try out the new moreaubaits. Any launch locations or an address would be appreciated

Sometimes when people say "its been slow lately" it just means its been slow for them.

Go to Newport, go out to the kelp bust a 23 inch checker and post it up!
