first wsb of 2012

not a kayak report, i know im kind of getting off track with my latest reports. but i hit the beach for an afternoon bait soak. looking to pull on some bigger leopard sharks but found something else instead....

17" sandie





and a juvie 26" wsb. my second from the surf. really want to get a 40lber on the sand some day.




condtions were pretty rough

btw. there was a recent release of wsb from the pens. so this catch does not confirm or deny any wsb activity in la jolla.

very nice out ther! my biggset WSB so far is only 18".. and that is on a float tube. i cant catch one on the surf for the light of me.

From the fist pic, I suppose that WSB was caught on squid...

Ya it was caught on double squid with a 3way sliding rig. Same thing you use to drift for halibut with a few minor tweaks for the surf.
