2012 SD Anglers Open Bay Bass Tournement

Roll call!

These guys raise a TON of money for Children's Hospital. Your $65 entry gets you a killer t shirt, and great lunch. Raffle prizes from plasma TV to trips, gear etc.

OEX is sponsoring the kayak division and hope to be well represented! You compete in the kayak division as well as the over all standings. If you like tugging on sandies, spotties and calicos join us on Saturday February 4th at SD Bay.

Disregard the cut off date on the application, it states January 5th post dated deadline. This has been extended.

I would put my money on a kayak angler taking the $150 biggest spottie!

Likely 20-30 guys competing for a $500 OEX gift card. This would buy alot of nice stuff............nicer seat, paddle.....extra mirage drive. pfd, apparel, anything we sell.

Crack the top 25 and you will be in the Spring Invitational.

You are also competing against the boating teams for $1500 1st place price, with payouts for the top 25.

Just a friendly reminder that SD Anglers are hosting a Bay Bass Seminar this coming Saturday, Jan 21 at Fishn' Marine Center in Lakeside. Free lunch starts at 11:30 and our guest speaker, Bill Schaefer will start the seminar at 1 pm.

Bill will talk about his techniques that make him so successful in fishing San Diego Bay and will field any questions that you may have.

Fish'n Marine Center
12365 Mapleview Ave, Lakeside , Ca

Take highway 67 into Lakeside and turn West at Mapleview Ave. Fish'n Marine Center is right next to Cafe 67.

Got a little pre-tournament scouting done today.

Cought some of these guys:
.
.

.
.
.

Let them all go, especially this guy. Gently placed him back in the water and told him I'll be back on the 4th if he can meet me in the same place, and bring along his brothers

Is the weigh in for Kayakers different from the boaters?
Will there be weigh boats or is it all done on shore?

Nah ... that pic is much farther inside the bay than the picture must appear. Especially since I was pointing toward the mouth of the bay, and not a side shot of the bay.

Looking at a map, with legal fishing for the tournament is to draw a line from "Point Loma to Zuniga Point" and anywhere within the SD Bay.

Of course, the way the tide in that area pulls at ya, you could be over that invisible tournament line before you know it.

The mpa is still out there a ways from the pic, and around the corner just a bit. I was parallel to Pt Loma most of the day, and not around Cabrillo point.
