9/20 LJ AM Viva La Spectra!
Launched with Matt, hit the pier for a great mix of jumbo sardines and greenbacks not much bigger. Headed to the grounds and Matt got picked up around the half, after a short ride spit the hook, where he then experienced the morph as he reeled in his bare hook a spanish ate it. Looked very fishy from there to the NW corner. Lots of birds, chovies and greenbacks. Current running down and out and persistent 7-8 kts of wind out of the NW made it really hard to keep out of the kelp. I was pulling my greenback as there were stringers below me, when I got picked up and buried in the kelp. After numerous runs down and lots of popping kelp I pulled the long fellow up. Funnest fight that I have had over the kelp monster and the most surprizing victory as I have never been taken that deep into the forest. Thanks for the pic Matt, sucky conditions, but great company. VIVA LA SPECTRA!
