kelp anchor

I got a Q for you folks. This sunday i went fishing off Malibu, The day started great but by late morning the wind picked up. It felt as if every time i stoped the wind would bush me back about 2+mph. How do you anchor your self to the kelp?? Any pics of what you use??
Any other ideas about how to slow the drift in the kelp of the open water??
