LJ Vets Day
Hit the launch about 5:45 to some tricky swell. It was 3-4 pretty clean, long enough intervals. I timed it wrong, and had a barrel pound 5 ft in front of my bow. Was able to pound through the white water. Headed out to the kelp...yes kelp, water looked clean just of the point, nice blue, with spiraling healthy kelp. Made a few Spanish macks, one hi, one low.
Worked the Iron for a couple of hours for nada... Lots of lobster buoys, reminded me of a YT I lost last year. I decided to head north to work the bottom. Ran into Soulwinner, good seeing you John. There was a big paddy in the water, I was hoping some dorado would be under it. I have the numbers if you want them... :P Surf was up next to the pier, and all the way to the launch. This is as about as close as I wanted to get, big rollers were coming through. Surf at the launch had some nice rollers, but manageable, kind of messy. Lights winds all morning, picked up slightly around 10am. There was a scarcity of bait, I didn't find any at the pier, even John said he had to look elsewhere. Finally, there was a sewage smell at the launch upon landing, and the water looked brown. Video's of PM shift launch... http://youtube.com/watch?v=YT2-F-Ajy3Y Chris |
